Ewan Aitken the alternative blog :-)

The alternative blog for Ewan Aitken which does not in any way purport to be the Leader of Edinburgh's Council. In fact we ask questions on what we see on his blog because if we ask them on his blog, he may delete them as he has a tendancy to do.

Scotland's victory!

Nice to see the leader of our council follows the local team and especially nice when Scotland actually beats France.

When he is so keen on football, one would think that he wouldn't score an own goal with his lying about deleting comments on his blog especially when he doesn't know the Blogger system enough to know that his lies can be proven.

Oh, what a wicked web we weave.

Crime in the City

On the other Ewan's blog he has a post about Crime Figures.

I was looking through the Scottish Executive statistical bulletin which was published just last month (Not the most exciting part of my job I have to admit……) And I was struck by the crime figures about Edinburgh.

At a time when everyone believes crime is worse – the figures show it's actually getting better. And that’s not just this year. Violent crime in Edinburgh has fallen for the past four years, down by a quarter in total.

Of course the guid coonsillor forgets to mention what we all know that most crime goes unreported. Especially white-collar crimes like the one that took place in the Edinburgh Lifelong Learning Partnership/City Connect fiasco - remember Ewan, the missing £400,000.00 that the auditors told you about and you just tried to sweep under the carpet.

We won't even mention the lies to an Evening News reporter saying he hadn't deleted comments - is that a crime?

Does Children & Families breed them - Liars?

Hot on the heels of Mike Rosendale, Head of Strategy of said department lying through his teeth at the recent Christine Fitton Industrial Tribunal, we now find that the former head of Children & Familes and now council leader Ewan Aitken can also spin a yarn or two when asked questions.

Councillor Aitken, have you ever deleted comments or questions from your blog?

"I have not deleted anything from my blog.
I try to answer as many questions as possible, although some may be merged into one answer.
All questions are still online, and can be accessed via the archive."
Oh, you little liaaar!

What happened to the question you were asked about City Connect and the missing £400,000? You will remember the question because you also deleted the two posts from a blogger user called Jan who went in after the question and mentioned it would be nice to see the answer to the qeustion.

That user Jan also posted another comment - he knows because he has been a Blogger member since his first blog was published on 9th September 2001 and has all his comments on all blogs are archived.

You deleted all three comments by 2 registered people and EdinburghSucks were not the only parties to see them. Surely this is not the behaviour we expect to see from a man of the cloth. Maybe you were not lying but the good Lord answered your prayers when you asked him to allow you not to answer any awkward questions, and he deleted them - is this the answer?

Shameful, shameful, shameful. How do you expect us to believe you when you say that our children are getting a good education, we need the tram, we should give all council houses to another agency, we should have a congestion charge, when you lie about somthing as frivolous as comments on your own personal blog which you have every right to delete. Even your friends know you have lied if they saw them. Shameful, shameful, shameful.

This will never happen again because we are now scraping the blog on a regular basis to ensure it doesn't. That is some example to show as leader of the council - Let's hope he is not heading down the path of the rounded man from under the tunnel.

Ewan Aitken’s (edited) blog

Most people will now know of our NuLeader’s blog. Regular readers of the blog will also not that when people ask the really interesting questions, which the good reverend does not wish to answer, they are quickly deleted by the heavy handed councillor.

Indeed when questions over the Hippy Rev’s apparent collusion in covering up the loss of the £400,000 of taxpayers money and not forgetting the £188,000 of missing equipment, these questions were the victim of Aitken’s delete key.

So although the first post in the blog is titled “Standing up for Edinburgh” and carries the statement “As soon as I was elected I made it clear that standing up for Edinburgh was my first priority”, it is clear that the blog is really “Standing up for Oor Ewan” and covering his ass is really his first priority.

The next post in the blog is “This Blog’s Values” where he states:

Welcome to my Blog. Edinburgh Labour, in all that it does, is built on core values. Briefly stated, we want Edinburgh to be a city that is “prosperous, fair and well cared-for”.Of course, those values can mean different things to different people so, if you share those values and want to talk with me about them, then please do use this blog. I’d like to hear what you have to say. You certainly don’t have to be a Labour supporter or a Labour voter to take part in the debate. You might, of course , have other values and aspirations for this city - in which case, do join the discussion, but I am most unlikely to agree with you and you may find you gain a better hearing elsewhere!

All very nice Councillor Aitken. However, you don’t seem to realise that the majority of the population of the city don’t believe that the Labour party has any values left and surely the questions of £400,000 of taxpayers money should be included in those values. Surely, for Edinburgh to be “prosperous, fair and well cared-for” we have to make sure that the books are all in order. Over to you.
